The primary goal is to promote holistic male development by providing relevant experiences, life enhancement programming, community partnerships, and leadership opportunities to embrace transformation, academic success, professional and personal growth, while fostering a cultural and spiritual foundation.
The Male Development Institute is a highly focused and culturally sensitive support program designed to bridge college to community and increase the retention and academic success of male students at Bethune Cookman University. In addition, the MDI aims to provide a structural mentoring program that supports the academic success and development of at-risk middle and high school male student within the Volusia County area. The focus of the institute is student persistence, success, graduation and career placement; while fostering a cultural and spiritual foundation. ultimately it is our aim to provide a multi-faceted approach to programming that encourages academic achievement, personal and professional development, and provide opportunities for leadership, so that male students enrolled at B-CU will be encouraged and motivated to persist to graduation and achieve their personal and career goals.
